Update:) and Counting My Blessings

Hey! What's up? How ya doin'?

so...I haven't written on here in a while.

I haaaaaad planned to write one blog post a week in quarantine, the "Corona Chronicles". I even wrote out the first one in my mind about adjusting during the first week. But...inevitably, that was a very difficult time. And I found myself busy with schoolwork or recording for Church or even watching tv with my family, and I didn't make time for this.

But I am BACK babyyyyy.

You may have noticed a blog post posted very shortly before this one. A note on that: I wrote that during a really rough part of quarantine. We had started going out a little bit, but on this day we were still stuck home and I felt so trapped in my own room and mind. I was just struggling. I know a lot of other people struggled during this time, and a lot of people still are so I wanted to share it, even though it was something kind of vulnerable that I wrote in a moment of struggle.

Other than that I didn't really write any "corona chronicles". I did vlog though...so if I ever get around to editing those check out my YouTube channel lol. ( you can also find them in the vlogs tab on this blog)

I don't really want to reflect and talk about quarantine right now.  I am just kind of over it, ya know? and more so I want to make this little update post a moment of gratitude and joy.

So...
Without further ado....

1. I graduated high school!!! No more compulsory education for me babeeeeeyyyy!! It honestly didn't feel real for a while. I don't still feel like I am in high school. But Corona was just a weird shift that it kind of created an end to a lot of things so I already kind of felt out of high school. But now it is official so YAY!!

2. DURING graduation I received a scholarship from the Trinity Education Foundation that is allowing me to afford the school I have been really wanting to go to. I am so so thankful for God's timing in when I received this news, and for his provision. God really opened a couple doors for me and let me choose and it was difficult (I am insanely indecisive) but so, so good. Which meaaaaaannnsssss....

3. I AM GOING TO GEORGE FOX BABYYYYY!!!!! If you have talked with me at all about college you know this was such a difficult decision. So much time. Thought. Prayer. But ultimately my heart felt led to George Fox's community, Be Known Promise, and STUNNING campus. It felt like home. AND I CAN'T WAIT to go in the fall.

4. Yep, you heard that right. I am able to go to the George Fox campus in the fall. I am praying for all my friends attending UC's and CSU's that you will be able to go in the fall as well, and I am so blessed to have that assurance right now so I am trying to remember to express my gratitude about it.

5. I am doing the honors program at Fox which means I get to read and do Socratic Seminars all the time! If you were ever in an English class with me, you know I loveeeee Socratic Seminars and I am so excited to grow, learn, and be stretched in this way.

6. Our family was able to go to the Coast to celebrate Lydi's 15th birthday (her golden birthday) and it was so refreshing. After four hours of driving there we discovered that our AirBnB got cancelled because of orders by Mckineleyville. We looked on line trying to figure out a place for us all and found ONE AirBnB in Ferndale (the cutest little town you ever did see). It was about the same price as our cancelled stay so we messaged the owner hoping they would get back to us soon. The owner was supposed to reply back within an hour but she replied with in 5 minutes or so, AND took off a chunk of money off our price. It didn't have the ocean in the backyard but it was SO nice and absolutely wonderful. What an amazing God thing. AND we still got to see the ocean!

7. I had avocado toast this morning. With everything but the bagel Trader Joe's seasoning and tomatoes. Enough said.

8. Jazzy got a hair cut like a week ago (or two??) and she is SO velvety and cute ahghhh I love her.

9. Since I am not planning on bringing a car to college, I can't really get a job this summer. So I am SO thankful for the people who have reached out asking me to babysit. (hint hint if ya need a tutor or babysitter or anyone you know and trust needs one, hit a girl up; ) )

10. Some very close family friends of ours who we have always considered family are visiting. And it is absolutely wonderful. I am so glad we get to see them again.

and a bonus: During our trip to the coast, certain things would remind me of Oregon. Or I would just randomly think of  going to George Fox next fall. And when I did, I felt so much peace. God really was showing me to trust in him. And giving me peace and reassurance in my decision.

I know times are crazy right now, and I really hope I didn't come off braggy or insensitive. But I think in such crazy times, it is also really important to express our gratitude. To remind ourselves all we have to be thankful for. I encourage you all to think of 3 or 5 or 10 things to be thankful for. Stretch yourself beyond the typical things you think of. And then lets try and remember to actually express our gratitude:) I think I forget to actually say it sometimes.

Thank YOU all for reading this. For listening to what little I have to say. For loving me.

Love you all dearly.

Sincerely,
Sophi

(my mom and dad have most of the pictures of our whole family but here are some of the ones I have...sorry they are mostly Lydi, Grace, and I )
